"Thanks to Muratori machines, we took up the challenge of cutting, machining and bending all our panels in-house. And time is money."
Ouest Signalétiques Service team
Ouest Signalétiques Service (OSS), based in the south of France near Montpellier, is a company specialising in the production of signage panels, particularly for the SNCF, France’s national railway operator. The panels produced by OSS equip the 3,000 railway stations across France, helping travellers find their way along the platforms and inside the stations.
With around 40 employees and an 1,800 m² facility, OSS manages the entire cycle in-house: from design to manufacturing, through to on-site installation.
To meet increasingly demanding requirements and reduce delivery times, OSS needed to bring panel processing in-house, having previously relied on an external machining subcontractor. This dependence created long waiting times between sending the cutting files and receiving the finished panels.
The main objectives were clear:
- bring the cutting, milling and bending of composite, aluminium and HPL panels in-house
- drastically reduce production and delivery times
- maintain an impeccable finish quality, matching the standards required by the SNCF
Searching for the best solution, OSS visited the Muratori Machines facility in San Marino and found the answer in the Ranger CNC Work Center. The Ranger’s vertical design allowed OSS to save between 30 and 40% of floor space, freeing up room for other machines without having to extend the premises. To complete the production cell, the company also integrated the Alu Bender for aluminium bending.
The benefits were immediate and measurable. OSS halved the time between production launch and finished panel, now producing panels in 48 hours, ready to be shipped anywhere in France. By bringing cutting, milling, edge folding, bending, printing and bonding in-house, the company reduced operating times and costs and increased not only its turnover, but above all its profitability.
Vertical processing also brought benefits in terms of ergonomics and cleanliness: handling large formats is easier thanks to the lifting balance system, and a simple jet of air or a brush is enough to remove 100% of the chips, making panels immediately available for the printing stage.
The collaboration with Muratori Machines highlighted the importance of responsive support and the partner’s know-how: when a technical need arises, a single email to the contact in San Marino is enough to receive an answer or a solution within a few hours, ensuring constant productivity.
